So, what's it about?
The Exstructus Blog is a site for me to put the contents of my head. I'm not talking things like PIN numbers and passwords - there's only so much space on the web... It's a place to store and distribute some projects and other information.
About me
I'm a 51-year-old step-father of six. As I mention above, I am a web developer and designer - two roles that quite often conflict each other. I've been coding and designing for the last 8 years professionally, and for fun and as a hobby for some time before that.
My first computer was a Tandy (Radio Shack) TRS-80 Color Computer, which I got in 1983, so I learned to program in BASIC from an early age. This would explain why I am now a web application developer. My strengths are in Classic ASP VBScript (because it's so close to BASIC). My web development started around 14 years ago (2001) and have continued this in my work and as a hobby since then.
I know, Classic ASP, right? I love it. It's so easy to use and understand. But nobody uses Classic ASP any more, and probably for good reason. Technology is so much better now. So for the past several years, I've dipped into ASP.NET MVC4 and PHP. There's so much to learn in web technologies these days, so it's best to try and keep up-to-date with it all.
Amazingly, I still have my TRS-80 Color Computer, and also a Commodore 64 (another archaic piece of wonderful technology).
I also crap-on somewhat (or at least, planning to) about Space, the Earth and astronomy. It's a large subject which I love learning and talking about.
I have recently gotten right into genealogy, and my own family tree. If you are a member, you can see my tree on Ancestry.com.au. Some of the information on my Ancestry.com.au site I will be replicating here, in time.
Anyway, that's enough about me. I created Exstructus to put the contents of my head out there. I hope that you find at least some of it interesting.
If not, there's always Google...
Thanks for stopping by.
